As a break from the candidate wars, let us unite and focus our derision on the stupidity of our chattering class. They really are driving me to drink at this point. That's about the only antidote to these idiots who continue to plague our discourse. Every once in awhile, a new one pops up, and the optimist in me goes, "Finally, here's a new reporter who will actually do his/her job and not feed us with unending Joe Klein-esque bullshit."
And then, predictably, they write something that crushes my spirit and optimism yet again (and leads me to a bottle of Jack...). Follow me below the fold to see the newest atrocities perpetuated by Time's new Swampland blogger, Michael Scherer.
Well, not the front page of DailyKos, anyway. As I was catching my flight from Kansas City International airport earlier today, I decided to catch up on the workings (or lack thereof) of the world with their wonderful free WiFi service. Imagine my surprise when, after loading up the mainpage of dailykos (which loaded just fine), I discovered that the user generated content of the diaries was deemed to be "pornography" by the powers that be of that particular network:
Well, with all the bad news about lately, I thought I would go ahead and offer some analysis on top of Darksyde's post about the victory in Kansas, and the accompanying upside to the whole evening. It appears that two moderate Republicans managed to defeat the nuttiest of wingnuttia in the Republican primary for the State school board. What does this mean? Well, in immediate terms, no matter the outcome of the various general election match-ups, the new State Board of Education will now be comprised of at least 6 moderates who are pro-evolution, with only a maximum of 4 irrational witless wonders sticking around. We still even have a good chance of knocking off another Flying Spaghetti cultist...errr...creationist follower in the fall when a Democrat goes up against him and turnout is much higher. Follow me below the fold for the really good news about all this and some early morning schadenfreude to start your day off right.
From the current issue of Science, we see that Iranian theocrats are taking a cue from their U.S. counterparts to counter "dangerous" scientific ideas. Follow me below the fold to find out more about the nutjobs and how a brief history of time can transition seemlessly from the Devonian period to the Koran (not sure if it transitions seemlessly to Genesis or not, you'd have to go ask James Dobson about that).
Well folks, it looks like our strong pressure on the alleged "liberal" occupying space over at Time magazine may have actually taken a toll behind the scenes. Follow me below the fold and we'll examine and parse Klein's rhetorical tapdance in his latest column to see how full of it he really is...
Noticing the news and diaries here lately, I've recently emerged with a more positive view about the future of the Democratic Party, liberalism, and the United States of America. Sure, we are still having some intra-party spats here and there, today's back and forth on Kos about the Cynthia McKinney kerfuffle is evidence of that, but follow me below the fold for some much needed positivity.
